    Default Mobile Phone Unlocking

What does it mean when they tell you a phone is unlocked? Does that have something to do with security issues or what? A lot of auctions say that, and also some websites are offering codes to unlock your phone. Can someone explain it to me?

    SIMLOCK/NETLOCK/SIBSIDY LOCK:
Mobile service providers offers free or discounted phones with plans, so phones are commonly locked to their network and cannot used with any other provider, as necessary to subsidize the cost of phones. A locked phone does not accept SIM card except the provider which it locked to. It's a phone software setting.

Unlocking is a method to break this restriction.

Depends on method you're using to unlock the phone.

it may cause some bad effect on our mobiles, but if the code & the software works properly to unlock the mobile to add another network & change some features of our taste. but the safety of our mobile costs more than these features.

Some lock there phone to avoid use by another people. To unlock it requires to enter a password number. If you entered a wrong password and keep on trying with combinations, then even if you enter the actual password, you cannot unlock the phone. The phone gets locked. Then you need to unlock it by using those codes.
Same happened with me, and was lucky to have those codes which worked for my phone.
unlocking SIM will be provided by those phone operators.

Did you change the os of your phone. or did you get it repaired that in these 2 years?

You are talking about Mobile lock or Sim lock? Sim lock means you have to call your mobile operator.

This may be due to the reason that many mobiles have automatic built in locks in the mobile firmware which restrict the other service providers to continue services with but when the time period specified by the seller is over then the mobile gets unlocked and starts accepting the other providers signals.
