I hope I can be useful with this, I have used php to server side programming. PHP is a widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML, I use it with javascript and xml for my xhtml pages this is the best combination I think!

i think if u need the explanation of php, first can i know if u know about any scripting language? like asp, jsp, php is a server-side scripting language. i prefer ruby on rails over php nowadays.
