    Default AVG virus protection

I know I should probably upgrade my virus protection but for now just using AVG free addition. The other day I noticed it taxed quite a bit of my computer muscle.....right to the point I had to restart the computer....task manager was going blitzy.

Its only happened once but my bottom task bar for win7 disappeared...I had to do the 3 finger salute and restart. I know most times when AVG is running my computer fan starts to whirl up...and my computer becomes.....slightly slower...but once the scan is done...
    Is this typical?

AVG really slows down your pc but dint expect this slow.
After restarting are you getting your task bar right?
I advice to change the anti virus and go for light ones if you are less prone to viruses.

Don't even consider buying safety Norton or McAfee products. They are expensive, ineffective and commercialization, more complicated than they should be. AVG virus protector on the safety of your computer from viruses.

you may Try Kaspersky or Avira. The new versions are working well with most of operating systems. And I think using a latest updated version can resolve most problems in computers performance. New versions are often comes with bugs fixed. So try updating the existing antivirus or download latest version.

I tried using avg before and I had an okay appreciation toward it. It did offer a certain level of protection but some of the nasty ones just passed through it. Either, my sinature was not updated which I doubt would be the case, or it just did not offer that much security. I would suggest that you have a look at other software before you zero in, on this. You would not want to double your expenses just because it did not offer you enough.

AVG is the best PC protection. Protect your personal information, and will not slow down your computer, and you use it and special protection, will not get way.I currently using AVG.it's better then other anti-virus.

About AVG, let me think of a few years ago. Back to good old days people used to consider the anti-virus Symantec anti-virus software symbol. Remember the Peter Norton it? Norton anti-virus software in DOS, the original author! Even in his picture down, until today, Symantec anti-virus is considered the most ancient and trustworthy.

AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates. I think you should try Avast or Kaspersky... They are much better.

The free version is the most popular anti-virus out there so all the hacker and jackers aim to get around it.Also when it goes into a scan it really slows your system down,if your trying to use it while it's scanning.
