I am a bit new to SEO but have been doing a lot of research, especially where sandboxing/link aging is concerned as this is relevant to my situation. I launched a site last month and am competing for some somewhat, but not highly, competitive keywords.

My question is this: Is it really, really hard to beat a site that has lots of really old links? I'm looking at my #1 competitor, who has about 200 links according to Google, which isn't an incredibly high number of links, but if I get 200 new links, and his are old, he'll still be scoring higher than me, right? Whats the best way to trounce a competitor if their site is much older, and mine is post-sandboxing?

I was feeling very confident about beating out everyone for this keyword when I started but now that I understand more about link aging, I'm feeling a little insecure.

Thanks!
