    Default Stability of Free Hosting Sites







    Beggars can't be choosy, this we all know. However, thanks to the internet and intense competition even free hosts are making their service at par with the quality expected of them.

    I have only one concern with free hosts: How stable are they? I mean, are they really making money out of their business model? Not unless the site is philanthropic, it has to make money for it to stay afloat. It would a horror to find your host gone in business the next time you open your site.

    Is there a way to gauge a free host's stability?

    Most free hosting companies force ad space on the free websites or sell ad space or in some other way monetize the space like with pop ups or pop unders. There are a very few free web host sites that don't force ads. I've worked with one such free host in the past and liked their service a lot cause they didn't force their ads on me. Later, I upgraded to paid, only so that I could access their script installers and get MySQL access for my forums. As for what you were saying about the instability of free hosting sites, that's often true, especially if you are depending on the site and then they go out of business suddenly without warning. What about all the wasted or lost SEO or bookmarking for those sites? Suddenly you have no site and have to start over. Just best to pay for hosting.
