Every owner has a different objective when he started his forum website but then it always boils down to attracting new active members and fresh content. Visitors goes to a forum website to gather information, discuss with other members in the most accommodating way. I believe the owner should always maintain that basic purpose. will you agree?

First and foremost, no one wants to put their efforts into a dead forum.

I agree that every forum owner has different objective. Some are just for helping, giving users information about your niche and some are creating forum to get profit on it.

I think the first priority of any forum owner is pleasing the members and listening to requests and making changes accordingly. But also you shouldn't let your members railroad you.

The next thing and this is key, a forum owner should keep up with the quality of the content on their forum. Content is key and with out it you will not gain new members and more then likely you will end up loosing your current members once quality goes down.

And next a forum owner should make sure that the website is running smooth. Members will leave if they are having problems with the website.

Last but not least a forum owner should worry about making money. Thats just my $0.02!

I think that the forum owner must make it a dynamic field. What I mean is, everyone should have a fair share about a discussion. Yes, expert input from the trusted ones are also good but you should be able to encourage others to participate.

There should not be unnecessary stuff that are displayed to keep it aimed at the discussion.
