Leading page must contain the best content which will represents the purpose of the site. As we know, for a team of Army, the leader must have knowledge about running a team and he must be good in management and fighting skills. Same as the leading page also have the most informatory content about the site.

Yes landing page should have the best content in your site and if you are running some news, movies related site then i think your landing page must have the latest content too
